    Many thanks. Earlier this evening I tried this machine for the first time and quite enjoyed it. It is one of the best cardio, as i heard. Now i can adjust my technique and get better results. :)

    @FableTribe You are right, I would never use gloves while rowing, the blisters will stop after your hands get harder.

  8. FableTribe on June 19th, 2010 10:28 pm

    @Dr23rippa

    There is not a single real rower thats like good, wearing gloves. Im a real rower and in this sport gloves are for wimps. :P

    Nice instructional video. I’m looking into buying a rowing machine and am considering the Concept 2 model D and Lifecore R100. Is there a noticable difference between the lowest and highest resistance on the Concept 2? The LifeCore has 15 levels of magnetic resistance and I was wondering how they compare. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    @KrispyWeasel you are right it is

    That is a shockingly bad introduction to the rower. I can’t believe he is giving such bad information. Do a Concept2 rowing course and learn what you are talking about.

    As for resistance you really need to use the Drag Factor and not the damper setting to guarantee that you achieve the appropriate level.

  12. BlownMacTruck on June 20th, 2010 12:07 am

    You shouldn’t leave the damper on max when you do any kind of piece longer than a few minutes (it’s not resistance, which is exactly what the dude in the video says, if you even watched it). You’ll destroy your back and setting it to max does nothing to change your strength training.

    7.520m in half hour, i do indoor rowing for a few months, 3 or 4 montsh maybe, and im also judo athlete. 15000 meters in 1 hour is extremely hard, congratulations. I also do 1500 mt in 5 minutes. Im trainning for 2000 meters now.

    @hakametal

    by the way, no matter what setting you use, if you row like your supposed to, the intensity is ALWAYS there.

  19. chazkez07 on June 20th, 2010 1:02 am

    @hakametal

    the settings most used (including the olympians) is 3 to 4. this is because its the most similar feeling of actually being on the water. it is a lot harder to use the erg on a 10, but thats more for strength training and not really for endurance. i’ve never used it once and i’m the the third fastest rower on my team currently. i’d say if you get the opportunity to use an erg, keep it on a 4. trust me. 500m in, if your doin it right, you’ll be glad you didn’t go any higher.

  20. hakametal on June 20th, 2010 1:43 am

    what is the best setting to row on coz i presumed 10 is the hardest and best…… my mate said it doesnt really matter what setting u have on as long as the intensity is there

    So what are the different settings for then? what the benefit between 1 and 10?? sorry for sounding like a noob

  21. theman1819 on June 20th, 2010 2:31 am

    I’d like to see you express that thought to him in person big boy. “Internet Tough guys”. HAHA what a bitch!

  24. makeminealarge1 on June 20th, 2010 4:05 am

    your a fitter man than me lol

  25. soygamer on June 20th, 2010 5:03 am

    well if you manage 13,500 meters in an hour that means your split is 2:13. Its impossible to say whether this is “good” or “bad”. Collegiate rowers should be under 1:50, but I assume you’re not. My best hour piece was a 1:48 or 16,667 meters.

Got something to say?
